The Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server for Maximo runs on an OpenShift pod and exposes Maximo data through standardized calls. MCP is an open protocol (originally created by Anthropic) that allows AI agents to connect to data sources.
It does not include an AI assistant, a user interface, skills, domain knowledge, security controls, analytics, context awareness or any of the capabilities that Maximo teams actually need to get value from AI.

Security That Matches Your Maximo Policies
Maxley enforces your existing Maximo security model. Each user’s queries are governed by the same security groups, site authorizations, and application permissions they already have in Maximo.

Maxley and Maximo MCP FAQ
You can connect an external AI agent to the MCP Server — but what you get is raw data access, not a Maximo agent. You would still need to build: the user interface, screen context awareness, security enforcement, domain knowledge for every Maximo module, conversation management, dashboards, document analysis, and every other capability that turns data access into a useful tool for your operations team. That’s what Maxley is.
While an MCP server is a useful tool for a developer, Maxley has no use for an MCP Server to reach the Maximo APIs. The MCP server exists to give agents that only speak MCP protocol a standardized way to reach portions of the Maximo REST API.
Maxley can already access the full Maximo REST API through its own isolated secure gateway per customer environment. This approach gives Maxley capabilities that the MCP Server’s Object Structure pipeline cannot support — like multi-table analytics, complex aggregations, and cross-application data traversal. Maxley doesn’t depend on an MCP server/pod or any other infrastructure prerequisites.
